There are many things about Turkey Vultures that make them special. They are the cleanup crew, eating roadkill as well as lots of other deceased, rotting animals. That helps keep our waterways and soil clean from disease. Their strange appearance is an adaptation that helps them eat carrion. Their head has few, if any, feathers - making it easier to keep clean (after having it inside all things dead and rotting!) You’ll often see them tilting in the sky on thermals.
