Tariffs and US shipping
As of Aug 29, 2025, the $800 De Minimus for small package tariffs is no longer in effect.
I think I have the setting properly set up to allow smooth shipping via Canada Post/USPS. You will see a $2.00 CAD fee added which will cover a portion of the brokerage fees I am charged if I want to ship into the US.
My store is set to show US prepaid tariffs at checkout so you should not have any surprises at your front door.
Technically, there should be 0% to collect on yarn as it falls within the USMCA agreement, but there is no definitive information right now and customs brokers may defer to the IEEPA tariff rate which is 35% I believe. I have no control over this at my end, but you may be able to get relief upon receipt if you were charged based on the wrong rate.
As with many small Canadian businesses, I am very worried by the changes in US policy. I am, as many of you know, a small, one-woman operation and about 50% of my online business comes directly from my lovely US knitters and crocheters.
I will try to keep you updated as news progresses, and if any of my US customers know of changes, please let me know!
Thanks for your patience, understanding and loyalty. I appreciate you all.
